Here's what we were working with - a beautiful craftsman-style home with no real walkway to speak of. Just bare dirt and grass between the driveway and the front door. The entry itself had potential, but nothing was guiding you toward it or making it feel finished. That's a common problem on properties like this, and it's one of those things that's easy to overlook until you see what it looks like fixed.
We started from scratch on the hardscaping side. The whole front area was graded and prepped before a single paver went down. Getting the base right is what separates a walkway that stays looking good for years from one that shifts and settles after a couple of winters. It's not glamorous work, but it's the part that actually matters most.
For the paver selection, we went with a rough-surface main field paver and layered in dual accent borders - one tan, one dark charcoal. That combination gave the whole walkway a clean, intentional look without feeling overdone. The path itself widens as it approaches the entry steps, which isn't just a design choice - it makes the approach feel natural and welcoming. The custom steps tie directly into the porch framing, and low-voltage lighting built into the riser face means the entry looks just as sharp at night.
The landscape installation side of the job ties everything together. Fresh mulch beds, shaped shrubs flanking the porch, and new plantings throughout the front yard give the hardscape something to sit against. When the paving and the planting work together like this, the whole front of the property reads as one cohesive design rather than a collection of separate pieces. That's the goal on every landscape renovation we take on.
Our crew put real craftsmanship into this one from design through final install. The finished product is a front entry that's functional, well-lit, and built to last - exactly what this home deserved.
