Busy season is here and we are running at full speed. Right now we have crews out laying fresh sod, prepping gravel beds, tracking down irrigation issues, and hauling materials to job sites. It is the kind of week where every piece of equipment gets used and the schedule stays packed from sunup to sundown.
Sod work takes more prep than most people expect. Before a single roll goes down, the ground needs to be graded smooth and the soil needs to be ready to accept root contact. We use the Bobcat to move material fast and get the base dialed in - because if the prep is off, the sod will show it. Getting that foundation right is what separates a lawn that takes hold from one that struggles all season.
The gravel bed work we have going is a good example of how hardscaping and landscape installation overlap. Weed barrier down first, then gravel spread and compacted across the entire area. It sounds simple but the shaping, the edging, and keeping the depth consistent across a curved layout takes real attention. Done right, it is low maintenance for years.
Irrigation repairs are their own thing entirely. A lot of homeowners do not realize their system has a problem until they see dry patches or get a surprise water bill. We dig in, find the issue, fix it clean, and get everything back to working the way it should. No guessing, no band-aid fixes.
And yes - the dogs ride along. They are part of the crew and honestly some of the best job site supervisors we have got. If your yard has been sitting on the to-do list, now is a great time to get it moving.
